At All Saints, we recognise the importance of physical education to a child’s physical, spiritual, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Our curriculum is based on progressive learning objectives as well as a range of different physical activities. Our curriculum, combined with varied and flexible teaching styles, within a safe and supportive environment, endeavours to provide stimulating, challenging, and enjoyable learning situations for all our children to flourish and reach their full potential.

We encourage our children to develop their understanding of the way in which they can use their body, equipment, and apparatus safely, yet imaginatively to achieve their personal goals.  All of our children have the opportunity to enjoy being physically active, maintain a healthy lifestyle and use the medium of sport to increase their self-esteem. We aspire for our children to adopt a positive mind-set and believe that anything can be achieved with determination and resilience.

As well as promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles, children are taught to observe and produce the conventions of fair play, honest competition and good sporting behaviour as individual participants, team members and spectators. Thus, embedding our life-long school values of trust, respect, honesty, friendship, and courage.

Along with PSHE and science, our PE curriculum teaches our children about the importance of healthy living and the need for good nutrition.   We aim for our children to develop the necessary knowledge and skills which will have a positive impact on their future by becoming physically active citizens to benefit their long-term health and happiness.
